KYLE THOMPSON
Kyle Thompson ha iniziato a fotografare all’età di diciannove anni dopo aver trovato interesse per le case abbandonate nei dintorni, a volte persino vivendo in queste case per un paio di giorni per lavorare su un particolare scatto. Il suo lavoro è principalmente composto da autoritratti, che scatta usando un timer e muovendosi lentamente davanti alla macchina fotografica mentre scatta, come se fosse una performance solitaria. Le fotografie accuratamente messe in scena di Thompson racchiudono una narrazione effimera, una trama inesistente che vive solo per un momento parziale che l’artista è in grado di mostrare attraverso una pianificazione attenta di ogni dettaglio dello scatto: come afferma, è più un’opera di pre-produzione, rispetto a qualsiasi postproduzione. Deviando la vista del viso, le immagini diventano più ambigue permettendo allo spettatore di identificarsi con il soggetto.
